Emily Tucker

As a theatre major at AU, Emily Tucker was one of the most successful students at AU. Going into her senior year, she had already completed 20 credits over the minimum to graduate and was on the Dean's List. She was very active in every branch of the Performing Arts Division. In theatre, she played major roles in Brian Friel's “Translations,” Sondheim's “Into the Woods” and “The Crucible,” by Arthur Miller. Beyond theatre, she was heavily involved in the music program as a fine vocalist and pianist, and in dance. 

Emily also began her thirteen-year tenure at Virginia's Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre and Jack Tale Players while she was still enrolled at AU. She performed in more than seventy-five productions, composed and arranged music for nearly a dozen original family musicals and served as the company's music director. She presently serves on the faculty of Radford University, and she continues to teach privately and with the Junior Appalachian Musicians program. She and her wife Rachel are members of the nationally touring “hot folk” trio, After Jack, and live with their son Silas Henry on their small Virginia farm.
