Visit to NYSEG facility provides networking opportunities for students
New York State Electric and Gas hosted a recent visit by a group of Alfred University engineering students to its Binghamton, NY-area facility, where students had an opportunity to network with NYSEG officials.
Xingwu Wang, professor of electrical engineering and renewable energy engineering accompanied 10 students to the NYSEG Energy Control Center (ECC) in Vestal, NY, on Thursday, April 6. Students toured the facility and learned more about its operations, talked with employees, and learned about potential job opportunities at NYSEG.
Wang said students learned about the NYSEG ECC operations, including transmission control and distribution monitoring for electricity and gas, as well as existing commercial software and future adaptation of other software. “The students will also be able to submit their resumes for internships and future full-time employment,” Wang noted.
Most of the students are majoring in renewable energy engineering, although there were some mechanical engineering and materials science and engineering majors among the group.
