Professor of Music Emerita Luanne Crosby will perform with Finger Lakes Opera
Luanne Crosby, professor emerita of music at Alfred University, will perform as a member of the chorus for Finger Lakes Opera's (FLO) production of Guiseppe Verdi's monumental masterpiece, Aida.
Aida will be performed at the RBTL Auditorium Theater, East Main Street, Rochester on Friday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 13, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available at fingerlakesopera.org or at the RBTL box office.
The chorus has been rehearsing since early June, when Crosby was also asked by FLO to serve as an assistant director for the group. Now in its ninth season, FLO is committed to the professional creation and production of opera in Rochester and the Finger Lakes region with a roster of highly accomplished main stage singers and emerging young artists drawn from diverse regions and backgrounds.
Crosby is excited to be a part of the company and to be back on the operatic stage after a hiatus of 31 years. Her last operatic engagement was with Cleveland Opera, where she performed in Cavalleria Rusticana, Pagliacci, and The Sound of Music and sang the role of Kate in The Ballad of Baby Doe.
