Alfred University marketing club Toy Drive provides gifts for 75 Hornell-area families
Alfred University students in the Alfred Marketing Association (AMA) announce that their group’s third annual holiday Toy Drive resulted in gifts being donated to more than 75 Hornell-area families.
A total of 265 toys were donated for the Toy Drive ahead of the holidays, with 191 of them being collected through a competition among Saxon athletic teams organized by Alfred University’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
For the third straight year, the cheerleading team collected the most toys, 64, and was awarded a $150 prize and a frozen yogurt party. Women’s basketball collected 57 toys; women’s lacrosse, 54; and softball, 16.
The AMA also raised more than $200 in donations during various promotional events. Students dressed up as Olaf, a character from the Disney movie “Frozen,” The Grinch, and Santa Claus to solicit donations. Funds raised were used to purchase additional toys.
