Alumna Leana Quade competes on Season 4 of ‘Blown Away’
Leana Quade M.F.A. ’17 is one of 10 glass artists on Season 4 of “Blown Away,” Netflix’s popular glassblowing competition. All 10 episodes of Season 4 were released on March 8 and can be streamed on Netflix.
Competitors on Season 4 are competing for a chance to win a $100,000 prize package, the largest awarded in the four seasons of “Blown Away.” Competitors create glass art for judges and in each episode, an artist is eliminated until one, the winner, is left.

Quade earned her M.F.A. in sculpture/dimensional studies from Alfred University in 2017 An instructor at Pittsburgh Glass Center, she has also worked a Pilchuck, Penland, Corning, Chrysler, Haystack, and the Pratt Fine Art Center. Her work has been shown internationally in countries including Belgium, China, Italy, Norway, and throughout the United States.
To celebrate Quade's “Blown Away” appearance, Pittsburgh Glass Center will present a Blown Away open house on Friday, April 5 from 6-9 p.m. The First Friday open house, “Hot Jam,” is free and open to the public. Visitors are invited to watch Quade in action creating hot glass art and to learn about her process and experience on “Blown Away.” Joining her in the demonstration will be two of her fellow competitors from the show Jonathan Capps and Ryan Thompson.
Corey Pemberton, a resident artist for Alfred University’s Black Glass Artist Series in 2023, is a guest judge for the second episode of “Blown Away” Season 4.
