Professor of Sculpture Coral Lambert to exhibit work in Germany: “Seite an Seite” collaboration with artist Marsha Pels described as “exhibition of Skulptur/Objekt/Video”
Artwork by Alfred University Professor of Sculpture Coral Lambert will be exhibited at the Kunstverein Kreis Gutersloh E.V. gallery, in Gutersloh, Germany, from May 25 through July 7. Lambert’s work appears in the two-person show alongside Marsha Pels, titled “Seite an Seite,” described as “an exhibition of Skulptur/Objekt/Video”
Lambert and Pels’ work will be exhibited throughout the main galleries of the historic building weaving works by the two artists through a series of rooms over three floors. The exhibition will include various media such as sculpture cast in bronze, iron, aluminum, and glass, made in Germany, USA and England. The exhibition is accompanied by a full color printed catalog.
As a sculptor, Lambert is described as an artist “renowned for her process-based, site-specific sculptures in public spaces. For “Seite an Seite” she will be showing smaller works alongside documentation and artifacts from her impressive cast iron performances. Her work has a physicality to it connecting it to the forces of growth and form.” She will have a total of 10 works on view including an early work made in 1994 side by side with current work.
According to the Kunstverein Kreis Gutersloh E.V, “The collective viewing experience of Lambert and Pels work ‘side by side’ presents a powerful counterpoint to an individual linear understanding of each artist’s work. A togetherness is created in how they each explore the idea of material, memorialization, and the power of an object’s historical context.”
Professor Lamberts’s participation in the exhibition is made possible with support from the Alfred University International Fellowship for Faculty Development Award, SOAD Professional Faculty Development, and Bernstein Funds.
