Engineering Professor Kabir publishes work in "Case Studies in Thermal Engineering"

Mehdi Kabir, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering in Alfred University's Inamori School of Engineering, recently published a paper in the journal "Case Studies in Thermal Engineering."

In this work, of which Kabir is the sole author, a measurement technique is first proposed to measure heat losses within two-phase flow boiling systems under low-pressure low-flow (LPLF) conditions. The proposed methodology exhibited higher accuracy than the common techniques reported in the literature to measure heat loss and vapor quality of flow boiling systems. For such systems, the investigation of the LPLF conditions is of a great significance in predicting the nuclear core behavior of the pressurized heavy water reactors to ensure the safety in case scenarios like the loss of coolant accidents.
