Robert C. Turner Teaching Fellow co-chairs panel at ACASA Triennial Symposium in Chicago
Eugene Ofori Agyei, Robert C. Turner Teaching Fellow in the Alfred University School of Art and Design, co-chaired a panel discussion at the Arts Council of the African Studies Association (ACASA) 19th Triennial Symposium 2024, held Aug. 7-11 in Chicago.
Agyei, with Emeritus Director Rebecca Nagy of the Harn Museum of Art, co-chaired a roundtable panel discussion titled “A Ghanaian-United States Nexus in Art Pedagogy and Practice.”
Panelists included five graduates from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana, who are current or recent MFA students. The panel explored how KNUST’s innovative curriculum and pedagogy have influenced each artist's practice and teaching in the U.S., the differences between pedagogical approaches in the U.S. and KNUST, and strategies for strengthening academic exchanges between KNUST and U.S. institutions.
